Following the reported attack on Enyimba players during the NPFL match day 29 encounter between Plateau United in Jos, the management of plateau united football club has responded to the attack on the visitors.

The statement reads: “the management of plateau united football club through the chairman supporters club wish to notify the general public that Yahaya sunusi (Leda)and Auwalu shaidan have been suspended from plateau united fc supporters club and they should immediately report themselves to the police.

“The chairman supporters club Mallam Audu regretted and totally conderm what happened at the stadium, and as such set a committee to investigate the accident and any one found culpable will be dealt with deceively.”

The attack was said to have ignited when the visitor tackled the match to a goalless draw.

According to the media officer of Enyimba FC, Zazi Barriza, who hinted on the ugly event said “they kept throwing missiles at the players, two players sustained open wound. The fans came in their numbers and it was difficult to control them.

Meanwhile, the Abia state Government earlier responded to the attack in a statement signed by the commissioner for information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu. It called on the authorities of NPFL to do the needful.

The statement reads: “The Abia state Government condemns in totality the barbaric attack on players of Enyimba FC in Jos following a goalless draw in a league game with Plateau United.

‘We call on be authorities of NPFL to fully investigate the incident and sanction those found culpable as we will not condone any further attacks on our high flying players and fans under any guise. Failure to do the needful will compel us to consider all options including stopping the team from playing at hostile stadiums where their lives are endangered.

‘Football fans must realize that it is only a game and not a mortal combat. In the game of football there are 3 possible outcomes: win, lose or draw. None of those outcomes should lead to violence of any kind.”
