Candidreporters.com recalls that before the disengagement of Kelvin from ASCETA, he was the Chairman of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union(COEASU), Abia State Chapter. Kelvin consistently called on the Abia state government led by governor Okezie Ikpeazu to begin payment of 32 months salary arrears amongst others with series of protest held in Arochukwu and Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

In an exclusive chat with candidreporters.com correspondent, Kevin revealed that he was sacked on 19th December 2022 because of his quest to stop the inhuman treatment melted on staff members by the institution’s management under the watch of the state government which led to him being sued by Philip Nto, the immediate past provost of the institution for alleged libelous act as the case is still ongoing in court.

In his words: “I always told them to stop dehumanizing staff, to pay salaries, stop 15% deduction from staff salaries to cut grass and to remit deductions made to the union as check off dues, promote staff annually and other numerous evil treatments on staff.

“I was also sued by the last Provost for exposing him (he called it a libelous act) and we are still in court.”

Kevin expressed sincere gratitude to governor Alex Otti’s administration, all journalists and media stations that helped in pushing to the public and government their quest for better treatment and payment of salary arrears and others encountered under the previous administration of governor Ikpeazu.

In his words: “I thank all journalists that used their media stations and platforms to help in our struggle, may God bless all the crew members and the station at large. You all are wonderful. I dedicate my re-instatement to you all for your good work.

Thanks to ASCETA, the new acting Provost and staff for believing in me and making every effort for my come back. God will bless you all.

I also thank the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti for bringing in the change we need in Abia State. Sir, we love you and Promise to help you to build Abia of our dream.
