The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) currently staging its 2023 qualifiers edition for Africa Zone 3 hosted by the Ghana Basketball Federation, features two Nigerian referees in the mix of 12 others who cut, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), new entrant Fatimah Yahaya Ibrahim who was the only female referee to pass the examination and physical test, alongside Samuel Nuhu who’s also from Abuja, currently officiates in the Qualifiers/Championship in Accra, Ghana.

In 2021, the 12-man list of Nigerian referees to represent the NBBF was released with the likes of Adamu Janlong, Adeola Oboro, and Akisehinde Ishola, all Lagos-based, retained as Match Commissioners.

Other certified Nigerian referees who made the list are Lai Alimi, Lagos-based Kingsley Ojeaburu, Samuel Shofoluwe, and Ayodeji Oladeji from Ibadan, to mention but a few.

Team Nigeria defeated (U16) started their campaign on a winning note with a 67-38 scoreline over their Cote d’Ivoire counterpart.
