The factional chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) in Abia State, Emmanuel Egwu has reaffirmed that he is the duly elected chairman of the party in the state.

Chief Egwu stated this in Umuahia after a familiarization meeting with APGA faithful from the ward to the state level, informed that part of their agenda was to unveil the blueprint of the party.

While reiterated that he was duly elected as the state chairman of the party, Chief Egwu added that he has all it takes to take the party from “endemic” to a greater height.

Regretting that the party lost out of most elective positions across all levels during the last general election in the state, Chief Egwu however expressed happiness that APGA was able to produce the Senator representing Abia South, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.

Chief Egwu revealed that the national Exco recognises his leadership as authentic and advised that status quo remains pending when the national party leadership will send a reconciliation team to the state to address the rancour in the party, as promised.

According to the State Party Chairman, “there must be dissenting voices and one shouldn’t expect everybody to align with his leadership, and however pleaded with the other group to come on board so as to build a formidable APGA in the state.

“What we want to do as a party is to bring everybody on board, make them see reasons we should be one family. Let’s reconcile and trash our differences and make APGA very strong and formidable. Politics should be a call to service and people oriented”. Chief Egwu said.

He assured that APGA is the only credible alternative party in Abia State which checkmates the party in power, believing that if the present government in the state fails in its leadership, APGA will cash in and take advantage of their demeanour “if God permits”.
