The Progressive Abia Youths(PAY), a non-governmental organization has warned that any form of manipulation by stakeholders in the Collation of results will not be accepted.

INEC in Umuahia began the Collation of results few minutes past 12pm on Sunday.

The group led by Ekejiuba Daberechi Kingsley the President General of PAY headed the protest around INEC office.

In a statement sent to candidreporter.com, Ekejiuba said “We were at INEC office by 11am this morning to request that INEC Abia State announce original results from the 4050 Polling units in Abia State and shun every attempt to manipulate elections in Abia State but thugs loyal to People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Abia State attacked us, destroyed our materials and threatened our Youths.

“It is on record that we do not have any affiliation with any political party; we represent a non-partisan, non-governmental organisation designed to engage, empower, enlighten, and equip the youths to create and maximise opportunities for self and National Development.

“It is important to state that we partnered with INEC to register more than 72,000 voters, provide adequate voter education and ensure that over 150,000 PVCs were distributed in Abia State. We have continued to call for peaceful and transparent elections.

“This attack is a threat to our nascent democracy and must be condemned by men of goodwill.”

“We are, however, not deterred. we continue to demand that inec abia state play by the rules as guaranteed in the electoral act 2022, announce original results uploaded on the IREV portal and resist every attempt to subvert the will of abia people.”

Candidreporters.com team gathered that the entire process of the result Collation at Umuahia INEC office has been largely peaceful despite reactions from party agents that has aided transparency and due process. So far, 10 LGA results have been collated and 7 remaining out of the 17 LGA in Abia State.
