Governor Alex Otti has revealed that three more roads have been awarded to contractors in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State in addition to eleven roads already awarded and three commissioned since inspection of his administration.

Gov. Otti gave the hint on Saturday during a first edition of the monthly media parley held at the government house, Umuahia.

In his words: “Penco Avenue, Omuma Road and another around Clifford Road, resources are scarce, Port Harcourt road is not forgotten, the road requires a lot of design and in the next few weeks you will see what will happen”.

Also responding to questions on road infrastructure in Umuahia, he revealed that a lot is been done on road infrastructure as seen in the flag off of the 6 lane Ossah Road and other palliatives given to Ikot-ekpene road and others in the capital.

Governor Otti also revealed that a total of 771 million naira was released for payment of compensation for 130 structures affected at Ossah Road.

Giving assurance of performance by his administration, Gov Otti assured that with the little resources the government gets, his government will improve on infrastructure the much he can as Abians will continue to see the changes in the coming weeks.

Governor Otti also hinted on efforts his administration has been making on security with the procurement of Hilux vehicles and engagement of various security agencies in the team code named “Operation Flush.”

On activities of the opposition parties, he however welcomed criticism but insisted that Abia people are wiser judging from what his administration has offered in the past four months.

As regards accountability, the governor affirmed that journalists can have access to any information they want as regards the allocation that comes into the state and amount paid for any contract given, instead of believing the speculated 500 billion naira rumoured to be received in two months by the state government S allocation from the federal government.

“There’s no problem with transparency, the information is in the public domain. I cannot stay here and throw figures in the air, there’s nothing we are doing here that is hidden. If such money comes in, what did they(previous administration) do with the money?” Governor Otti asked.

On health, the governor also assured that the Aba Specialist Hospital is not abandoned, but “taking things one step at a time.”

On local government election, Governor Otti assured that there will be local government election but transition chairmen will be appointed to take care of administrative activities until after the election.

“The transition committee will lead to the local government election, we don’t have the time table yet.” Governor Otti said.

On the question asked about the security vote,he said the security vote will be used on what it is meant for and will not be allowed to be used for other purposes.

“It is all about deploring money to work for Abia people, gone are the days when monies are shared. We now have the Abia state Orientation Agency and the whole idea is for people to begin to think and see life differently. People have been used to doing things the wrong way in Abia.” Governor Otti said.
