It was a beehive of activity at Afaraukwu Ibeku autonomous community as the Ibeku traditional rulers council converged to induction HRM Eze Amaechi Ugwueje Egwu Ukwu III of Afaraukwu Ibeku into their fold.
In the colourful event which took place on Friday at Afaraukwu Ibeku autonomous community in Umuahia, Abia State.
HRM Eze Amaechi Ugwueje, Egwu Ukwu III, succeeds late Eze Israel Okwu Kanu (JP), the father of the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Eze Iheanyi Chukwu Eze, the chairman of Ibeku traditional rulers council while addressing newsmen urged the newly coronated HRM Eze Amaechi Ugwueje, Egwu Ukwu III of Afaraukwu Ibeku to ensure that there is peace amongst all and sundry in the community for progress to thrive under his reign.
Also speaking to newsmen about his emergence as the new traditional ruler of Afaraukwu Ibeku,
HRM Eze Amaechi Ugwueje, Egwu Ukwu III said the event marks a good day for him and his family, and also a day that Ibeku traditional rulers proved that they are solidly behind him and his community to make sure that peace reigns. He also pledged to unify the community despite the misunderstanding that ensued during the process of electing the traditional leader of Afaraukwu Ibeku.
HRM Eze Amaechi Ugwueje, Egwu Ukwu III also added that there shouldn’t have been any misunderstanding in the first instance if not for personal interest and miss information.
In his words; “There shouldn’t have been a misuderstanding in the first place, there was a process that was duly set up and I emerged as the winner, we are all winners.”
HRM Eze Amaechi Ugwueje Egwu Ukwu III also advised that all agreived members in the community should exercise the spirit of sportsmanship and added that the potentials of the youths will be harnessed for self benefits and growth of the community.
“If their interest was actually to serve the people, there shouldn’t be much noise and miss information. If you lose, there should be spirit of sportsmanship as we come together and work together for the people.” HRM Eze Amaechi Ugwueje, Egwu Ukwu III added.
HRM Eze Amaechi Ugwueje, Egwu Ukwu III also added that the presence of the council of elders is a true reflection that they are solidly behind him and wants the peace of Afaraukwu Ibeku, while also affirming that unity is key, most especially as the new government of Dr Alex Otti in on board so as to ensure that Afaraukwu Ibeku gets the dividend of democracy.
