Hon. Mandela Obasi, member representing Ohafia North constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly has said that he is satisfied being nominated as the Deputy Speaker and addressed as Rt Honorable in the next couple of weeks before the expiration of the 7th House of Assembly in Abia state.

While speaking with newsmen after Wednesday’s planery, Hon. Obasi described his new role in the house
as “the right time and what will be must be”.

While also linking his new position in Abia House of Assembly as God’s time is the best” he said by right, he was supposed to be the Deputy Speaker from on set but had to listen to the directive of the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and remained calm.

Candidreporters.com earlier reported on Tuesday that there was an impeachment move by 18 out of the 27 members of Abia State House of Assembly which the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji described as a “charade”.

Members believed to be part of the plot were however suspended by the Speaker as Hon. Obasi was announced as the new Deputy Speaker to replace impeached Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, former Deputy speaker of the house.

While responding to questions fed by newsmen, Hon. Obasi said contrary to rumoured commotion in the House of Assembly complex, he said the environment is largely peaceful as planery was held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In his words: “The activities of the house will continue, what happened was that some members of the house made the wrong move to impeach the Speaker which I describe as Kangaroo movement”. I was nominated as the Deputy Speaker and I’m happy that Rt. Hon. has been added to my name”.

He advised suspended members not to allow little things move them.

While stating his plans for people of his constituency, Hon. Obasi promised to continue to deliver the deviden of democracy to the people of his constituency.

Hon. Chikwendu Kalu

Hon. Chukwudi Apugo

Hon. Aaron Uzodike

Hon. Thomas Nkoro

Hon. Chijioke Chukwu.
