Abia born philanthropist, security expert and media pacesetter have rolled out an inviting educational quiz/debate competition with bounteous package to motivate hardworking secondary school students and compliment the effort of Abia State government in the education sector.

The philanthropic gesture was revealed in a press conference held on Wednesday in Umuahia, which was chaired by the coordinator of the “Ray Nkemdirim Foundation”, Uche Ama-Ohakah.

The education philanthropic foundation is pioneered and powered by Chief Raymond Nkemdirim, MFR, an indigene of Umuobiala in Isuikwuato local government area of Abia state.

According to Information gathered by candidreporters.com during the press conference, the Ray Nkemdirim Foundation is a non-profit and Non-Governmental Organization with her mission summed up in “strategic community oriented actions, for good governance and sustainable development.”

It’s “role aim is to contribute their quota to the uplifting of humanity.”

The said competition is captioned, “Abia Secondary School Academic Competition(ASSAC)”.

In order to achieve the project, the Ray Nkemdirim Foundation is said to partner for smooth running with the Abia State Ministry of Education, Abia State Secondary Education Board (SEMB) , National Association of Private Schools (NAPPS), Abia State Universal Basic Education Board(ASUBEB), Abia State Scholarship Board; Flo Fm 94.9 Radio station, Umuahia.

The heads and representatives of mentioned educational institution above where present at the press conference to confirm the roll out.

The competition is planed to kick-off from the local government level from Monday, April 12 to April 16, 2021, while other educational zones will commence April 19 to 21,2021 with the grand finale to hold on Friday May 26th, 2021.

Interested Applicants are to pick up their forms free of charge through their school of study while the school’s management are to pick up the forms from the Ministry of Education, SEMB, through AIES and ZIES, NAPPS as well as FLO-FM office, at 7b Factory Road, Umuahia.

The Ray Nkemdirim Foundation will be hosting the yearly school/Debate competition program across the three educational zones in Abia State.

In explaining the three educational zones in Abia state, the Director/Zonal inspector of Education, Ohafia Zone(ZIE, Ohafia, Kali John O. Said the education board doesn’t operate with senatorial district, rather educational Zones which is structured of different blocks in all senatorial zones of Abia State.

While answering the questions fed by journalist during the press conference, Uche Ama-Ohakah revealed that the grand finale in the quiz/debate competition will be rewarded with the sum of 450,000 naira while 1st-runner up will have 320,000 naira and 2nd Runner-up will have 220,000 naira.

In response to the question if the physically challenge is included in the competition, education expert, Kalu John said ” in Education we run inclusive education i.e physical challenged students or deformity will not stop anyone from fulfilling his or her educational destiny.

” It’s an open competition, if the schools with physically challenged ones want to come in, they are free.”

Trophies, medals and consolation prices is also expected to be handed to winners and participants.

In his words: “We thank Ray Nkemdirim Foundation and his team for partnering with the ministry of education, we all know that education is a veritable instrument for national development and for national coherence. Education is also capital intensive.

” The burden on education cannot be done by government alone, so there is a need for individuals, associations, companies and groups to partner with Abia state ministry of education in other to help our youths.”
