Senator Emma Nwaka, the gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Abia State has vowed to appeal the judgement upholding the candidature of the Sir Okey Ahiwe, PDP gubernatorial candidate of the 2023 gubernatorial election in the state.
Candidreporters.com gathered that a federal high court sitting in Abuja on Friday struck out the suit filed by Senator Emma Nwaka and Chief Lucky Igbokwe challenging the candidature of Sir Okey Ahiwe.
Senator Nwaka had approached the federal high court and prayed the court to disqualify Sir Okey Ahiwe as PDP candidate for the election on the ground that he had not originally contested the May 2022 Abia guber primary that produced late Prof. Uche Ikonne as the PDP candidate before his death ahead of Abia 2023 guber election, prompting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to mandate the PDP to replace late Prof. Uche Ikonne.
Senator Nwaka however affirmed that his lawyers will study the judgment of the said court and decide on his next line of action.
He also applauded the beautiful nature of the judicial system which he said “allows a window for a litigant who is dissatisfied with the judgment of a lower court to head upstairs to test the validity of the judgment complained of”.
