The Methodist Prelate, His Eminence Samuel Kanu has regained freedom from his abductors on Monday.
The release of the prelate was made known by chairman of Umunneochi local government area of Abia State.
The press release reads;
“With gratitude to the Almighty God, the Executive Chairman of Umunneochi LGA Chief Ifeanyi Madu joyfully wish to announce the release of His Eminence Dr. SCK Uche Jp, the Prelate Methodist Church Nigeria and his entourage from their abductors. This was confirmed by the Lay President Methodist Church Nigeria Sir Ifeanyi Okechukwu. The Prelate is currently in a church giving praises to God.”

Unknown gunmen had abducted Kanu-Uche, and two other priests were abducted while they were on their way from a programme.
The Prelate, the Bishop of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark and the Prelate’s Chaplain, were whisked away on Sunday in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.
However, the gunmen had earlier demanded the sum N100 million as ransom before his release which said that no ransom was paid.
