Rt Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa of Aba South State Constituency has emerged the Speaker of the 8th Abia Assembly while the member representing Umuahia East State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Austin Okezie Meregini, popularly called Ugolee, also emerged as the Deputy Speaker.
Both are of the Labour Party and were elected unopposed .
