The concerned citizens of Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State on Sunday presented expression of interest form to Rt.Hon. Enyinnaya Chinedum Orji, the speaker of Abia State House of Assembly.

The Abia speaker received the visitors in his residential home in Umuahia, Abia State.

According to Emeka Iyama, the spokesperson for the group, he said they have found Rt Hon. Orji competent to represent the Constituency, thus they have collectively bought the interest form for him to be in the race.

Iyama recalled that despite the call by youths from different sections of the state requesting him to run for the office of the governor of Abia State come 2023, they are of the position that they have a different plan for him.

“We appeal to you to accept this offer because of the good work you have done as a legislator.” iyama said.

Iyama also recalled the achievements of the speaker namely, the secretariat, stadia and renovation of Abia state House of Assembly.

In the response of Rt.Hon. Orji, he thanked the group for their kind gesture and pleaded that they should give him 48 hours to respond to their request. He also added that his father once told him that he is retiring from elective office, thus, he doesn’t want chaos in the state.

“He said, if what they said will affect me, I should bear it because he is already a 71 year old man. So, I used my tongue to count my teeth”. Rt Hon. Chinedum Orji added.

The speaker received the form and asked the group to expect his response.
