The General Manager, Abia State Road Maintenance Agency(ABROMA) Ndukwe Orji is applauding the PDP for their resilience in conducting a credible re-run primary election that saw the emergence of Chief Okey Ahiwe.
Reacting to the just concluded governorship primary election, Ndukwe said the choice of Okey Ahiwe is the best for the party and the state as he has leadership qualities, which would help in turning the fortunes of Abia state around.
He further urged other party stakeholders and members to rally round the governorship candidate of the party and other candidates of the PDP to ensure victory during the election.
The re-run election was conducted on February, 2023 at the Umuahia township stadium in the capital of Abia state.
Rt Hon Ude Okochukwu, the deputy governor of Abia state also participated in re-run election and scored 12 votes, Lucky Igbokwe also had 12 votes, Dr Sampson Orji scored 11 votes, Senator Emma Nwaka had 0 vote , invalid votes are 12.
The rerun primary election follows the death of Uchenna Ikonne, the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
Mr Ikonne, a professor and former vice chancellor of the Abia State University Uturu, passed away on 25 January at the National Hospital Abuja, according to a statement from his first son, Uche-Ikonne Chikezie, on behalf of the family.
