The Labour Party has claimed that the Nigerian Police and Department for state services DSS have reportedly arrested the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Barrister Julius Abure, national publicity secretary Obiora Ifoh reveals.
Candidreporters.com gathered that the LP chairman was apprehended in Benin City, Edo State, on Wednesday alongside Kelly Ogbaloi.
The LP chairman’s arrest followed a petition by the party’s Youth Leader, Comrade Eragbe Anselm Aphimia.
The youth leader petitioned the Edo State Commissioner of Police alleging that he was attacked by some party members in December 2023.
However there’s ongoing crisis within the party, the party’s National Treasurer, Oluchi Opara, had accused Abure of misappropriating the sum of N3.5 billion generated from the sales of nomination forms and other activities ahead of the 2023 general election.
In a related development, TheCable also reports that Chibuzor Nwabuzor, spokesperson of Edo state Police Command revealed that the LP Chairman is not in their custody.
