A gearing pro-political group under the aegis of “Abia Oje-Oje Youths Movement” has resolved to ensure mobilisation of over 30,000 youths from the 17 local government area of Abia state to ensure massive youth participation in politics in the coming general election in the state.

Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia on Tuesday about the agenda of the pro-political group, Nnabugwu Chukwudi Chionye the leader of the “Abia Oje-Oje Youths Movement” emphasized that the group is poised to motivate the youths to go and collect their permanent voters card (PVC) in order to fully participate in the fourth coming general election in the state.

Chionye hinted that the group has strategized plans to educate youths on the need for inclusiveness in electoral process and good governance. He also added that the group has scheduled sensitization campaigns to ensure young people collect their PVCs and vote for a candidate who can make a change.

The theme of the sensitisation campaign is tagged “Oje-Oje Operation Show Your PVC”.

The leader of the group also hinted that one of the tools for “Abia Oje-Oje Youths Movement” mobilisation is the social media. He added that the “Abia Oje-Oje Youths Movement” has a Facebook page where youths who are yearning for change and inclusiveness can make the desired change by joining the Facebook page and also call the phone numbers of the executives displayed on the Facebook page for further directives.

The Facebook page is Abia state OJEJE youth movement.

Chionye also added that the Oje-Oje Youths Movement executives have also mapped out radio programs and meetings to sensitive the youths on the need to pick up their PVCs.

Chionye also pointed out that they are not sponsored by any political group but poised to ensure the emergency of anyone who can give good governance and create room for youth participation and inclusiveness in governance.

In his words: “This is a political pro group, I can’t say that we are supporting any political group, rather we support those who are credible to serve us well. We want youths to participate properly in this election.”

Pressing further questions on the structure and funding of Oje-Oje Youths Movement, Chionye revealed that foremost Nollywood actress, human rights activist and special adviser to Abia state governor on creative art, culture and tourism, lady Doris Ogala is one of the groups matron and co-ordinator of the Oje-Oje Youths Movement.

A glimpse into the activities of Doris Ogala in the public space also has it that Doris was among the 17-man Judicial Panel of Inquiry who investigated allegations of extrajudicial killings and brutality by security agents in Abia state
(EndSARS panel). After her service to the state at that capacity, Doris was spurred to take more active role in governance, especially the display of enthusiasm in youth participation in 2023 general election.

“Doris Ogala is a strong pillar and motivator to reckon with, she has the charisma that befits our project’s blue print”. Chionye said.

Chionye added that the Abia Oje-Oje Youths Movement also has the administrative structure of coordinators and women leaders in all the 17 local government areas of Abia state to meet up various yearnings and support of members.

Chionye hinted that the group has kicked off her sensitisation activity which is scheduled to cover the entire 17 local government of Abia state.

The Oje-Oje Youths Movement leader pleaded with all Abia youths and like minds to join the “Abia Oje-Oje Youths Movement” via the Facebook page and follow the activities on the page to know what’s going on and also call the phone numbers on the page for proper guide on how to get their forms to register.
