Kanayo Uzuegbu, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia, Abia State is dead.
AIG Uzuegbu reportedly died in the course of battling cancer.
Governor Alex Otti announced the sad news in Umuahia shortly after accepting his nomination as the Labour Party Governorship candidate for the 2027 polls.
Governor Otti described the deceased police officer as a fine gentle man, and prayed for the repose of his soul.
Our correspondent reports that a minute silence was observed in his honour on the occasion at the request of the Governor.
Late AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu assumed duty at Zone 9 Umuahia which covers Abia, Imo and Ebonyi States in March last year.
