The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has withdrawn from the scheduled primary election of the Abia peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The primary election was scheduled to hold today May 25, 2020 at the Umuahia township stadium.

The statement reads:

Dear Stakeholders / Party faithful,
NOTICE OF NON PARTICIPATION IN THE GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARIES OF OUR PARTY SCHEDULED TO HOLD TODAY WEDNESDAY 25TH MAY, 2022
24th May,2022.

Greetings to all.

It is with deep sense of responsibility and conviction to preserve the dignity and glory of our Party; Peoples Democratic Party that I call you today to announce my non participation in the purported Gubernatorial primaries of our party scheduled to hold today 25th May, 2022.

Let me thank our stakeholders, my supporters and party faithful for standing by me in my aspiration to add more value and to possibly change the narrative of Abia State for the better. It is very unfortunate that our party certainly has not provided us with the platform to pursue this aspiration.

It is on that basis that I have come to announce to you that I shall not participate in the Gubernatorial Primaries of our Party today. You are not unaware that, I joined other Gubernatorial Aspirants to complain about a fraudulent process with which a purported 3 Man Adhoc Delegate List was generated, instead of addressing the fundamental issues in the petition, the leadership of the party treated same with ignominy only to continue with the flawed process.

My non participation in this process is to further reaffirm my earliest position that the purported 3 Man Adhoc Delegate Congresses which will midwife the candidate of the party today was a scam, skewed to actualize a predetermined objective.

I am sure that this whole process that brought our party to this political theatre would be highly regretted by those who masterminded it. I will do a deeper consultation to define my next step from here. One thing is certain; Abia most be greater.

H/E, Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu
