Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has revealed that the security architecture of the state has gained progress with the discovery of kidnappers den around the Lokpanta cattle market area in Umunneochi, Abia State.

Governor Otti revealed that 50 dead bodies, over 20 beheaded decomposing bodies of men, women and children, uncomfortable skeletons were discovered around the Cattle Market .

Governor Otti gave the revelation on Sunday during a media parley in Umuahia, Abia State.

Governor Otti also revealed that high level of prostitution, narcotic spread were happening around the cattle market at Umunneochi.

As an effort to secure the market, Governor Otti said efforts were made to know those actually is involved in the crime around that environment. He also revealed that with the raid of the cattle market, several hotels were brought down, as the government has resolved that the cattle market will henceforth operate like every other market, that is ‘a day market.’

In his own words: “The market will open by 6am and close by 6pm daily. We will start fencing the market round, though very expensive to do but we’re determined to do it . We also want the market to be a general market, not a cattle market, although there will be a section for cattle, a section for electronics, provisions, foods, drinks and whatever that is sold in the market.” Governor Otti said.

Governor Otti also debunked the reports making the rounds that the state government has asked the northerners to leave the state. He however stated that the dead bodies discovered in that location is however not from a particular ethnic group but bodies of young and promising Nigerians whose lives were cut short due to the notorious activities of kidnappers and murderers in that environment.

Governor Otti said; “anyone who is not in support with the effort the government is making, the person must be a criminal.” Also adding that the government is making efforts to make the state safe for those returning back home for the yuletide as well as those working in Abia State.
