Dr Uche Sampson Ogah has Emerged the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election of a faction of the party in Abia State.

The results of the primary election was read out on Friday early morning at the party’ secretariat, Azikiwe road, Umuahia, Abia state where journalist waited for the results to fully come in for collation and scrutiny from Thursday night all through Friday morning.

The results was read by the returning officer Barrister Perfect Okorie. He gave the total number of votes cast as 195, 801.

The results reads:

Alex Otti- 2, 414 votes

Prince Paul Ikonne – 27,054 votes

Emeka Atuma- 7,429 votes

Chief Ikechi Emenike- 9,446 votes

Dr Sampson Ogah -141,952 votes

Obinna Oriaku – 5,553 votes

Daniel Eke – 1,953 votes

Dr Uche Sampson Ogah was decleared winner of the direct primary election as announced by Barrister perfect Okorie.

Meanwhile, earlier on Thursday, the results of the other APC faction in the state in the primary election held was read out by the returning officer Mr Tony Obiefna. He decleared Chief Ikechi Emenike winner after having a total number of 672 voted to defeat his closet rival Chief Emeka Atuma who scored 159 votes.

The results of other aspirants in the ballot reads;

Chief Uche Ogah- 6 votes.

Chief Daniel Eke -16 votes.

Prince Paul Ikonne – 22 votes.

Dr Alex Otti -14 votes.

Chief Obinna Oriaku – 12 votes

The returning officer stated that the total number of accredited delegates for the primary election was 920, total number of votes cast was 907. Valid votes was 892 while invalid votes was 15.

In another development, a High Court of Abia State, sitting in Umuahia, on Thursday, affirmed the suspension of Chief Ikechi Emenike
and revoked his membership of the party.

The Court presided over by Hon. Justice A.O. Chijioke in the Judgment held that by the suspension of Emenike it has denied him all membership privileges as provided by the APC Constitution.

He explained that the purport of the judgment was that Emenike, is not fit to participate and/or contest in the governorship primary election of the party in the State, until the judgment is set aside and/or upturned on Appeal.

The judgment delivered in Suit No.: HU/6/2022: Chinedum Nnoke& 2 Others. V. High Chief Ikechi Emenike & 3 Others, filed by three (3) members of the Abia State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress challenging the membership status being accorded to Emeinike, despite his subsisting suspension by the Nkwoegwu Ward of the APC, for anti – party activities.

The three (3) claimants in the Suit were represented by Anaga Kalu Anaga Esq, while Chief Ikechi Emenike and the APC were represented by Vitalis C.Nwankwo Esq.
