The United States has captured Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
The latest development comes a few months after the United States government doubled the reward for information leading to the arrest of Maduro to $50 million, citing his alleged role in international drug trafficking.
The United States had, in 2020, during Trump’s first administration, indicted Maduro and several senior Venezuelan officials.
United States President, Donald Trump, in a post on his Truth Social account on Saturday, said Maduro has been captured and flown out of the country.
He said, “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country.
“This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow. There will be a News Conference today at 11 A.M., at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
