President Bola Tinubu has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately vacate the court order freezing the bank accounts of the Osun state government.
The president announced the decision in a statement issued on Thursday.
TInubu said although he respects the independence of anti-corruption agencies, the timing of the EFCC’s action, coming days before the August 15 governorship election in Osun, could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
