A recent publication titled “Dr. Alex Otti, Why Are You Doing This to Abians?” by Kelvin Ugorji has made false, baseless and misleading claims about the administration of Governor Alex Otti. As a grassroots Abian and representative of the governor, I am compelled to set the record straight.
The truth is that Governor Otti’s administration has exceeded expectations and set a new standard for governance in Abia State. Since assuming office on May 29, 2024, Governor Otti has demonstrated a rare commitment to infrastructural transformation, fiscal responsibility, and people-oriented policies.
Infrastructural Development
One of the notable achievements of Governor Otti’s administration is the unprecedented uplift in road construction and rehabilitation projects. The once-dilapidated Umuahia-Uzuakoli Road, Arochukwu-Ohafia Road, and the Ossah Mission Hill Road are just a few examples of the critical arteries that have been reconstructed or are undergoing rehabilitation.
WORKERS’ WELFARE
Governor Otti’s administration has also restored dignity to Abia’s public and civil servants by ensuring prompt salary payments. Gone are the days when workers languished in uncertainty over unpaid wages. Today, Abia workers receive their salaries even before the end of the month, allowing them to cater to their needs and families without financial distress.
Rekindling Hope in Governance
Beyond infrastructure and workers’ welfare, the Otti-led administration has rekindled hope in governance. Abians can now see a government that prioritizes their welfare over selfish political interests.
I call on detractors and naysayers to put the interests of Abia above personal or partisan agendas. Governor Alex Otti remains focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people, and no amount of political mischief will derail his commitment to excellence.
It is a fact that Abians are standing firmly behind Governor Otti’s administration, and I urge all well-meaning individuals to dismiss the erroneous allegations of Comrade Ugorji and join hands in building a greater Abia. Let progress not be sacrificed on the altar of cheap politicking, since the evidence of good governance is clear for all to see.
