The current fear ravaging the camps of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the major opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the growing influence of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi and his Obi-dient movement on Nigerians of all ages and ethnicities further heightened on Tuesday when over fifteen support groups and their respective large followership that hitherto paid allegiance to the ruling party (PDP) in Abia State, threw their weight behind Peter Obi and the Labour Party as well as all the candidates seeking elective positions on the platform of the new party.

The groups which unanimously came under one umbrella as Unified Structures for Peter Obi with the motto ‘Nke Bu Nke Anyi’ converged in their numbers on Umuosu Umunna Nsulu from the eight communities making up the Umunna Nsulu Ward II in Isiala Ngwa North LGA in a carnival-like rally that rattled members of the ruling party in the state – some of whom made moves to scuttle the event, though unsuccessfully. This came as the authorities, in a move that is unconnected to bitter politics, denied the group access to the Umuosu Central Primary School field which hitherto had been the usual venue for such occasions.

Speaking at the event which held at the open field of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish, Umuosu Nsulu, the special guest and lawmaker representing Isiala-Ngwa North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, encouraged the people to, come 2023, turn out en-masse and vote for Peter Obi and other candidates of the Labour Party and never entertain any fear or be coerced from making their right political choices.

“Let nobody intimidate you”, “if you’re no longer ashamed of this country, I’m personally ashamed in a country where salaries, pensions and gratuities are not paid with ASUU being on strike. But God is about to do something with Peter Obi whom he has chosen to extricate Nigeria from this snare; therefore do not be deceived” he admonished.

Both men promised never to forget the electorate in Umunna Nsulu Ward II when voted into office.

On their parts, the chairman of the organising committee, Hon. Chijioke Ndubuisi and the ward coordinator, Hon. Ody John assured the guests that the Unified Structures for Peter Obi will deliver the elected candidates for the Labour Party.
