OPINION: “Honest Munachiso Offor, Selective Justice is When You See Only the Response of the Courageous, But Ignore the Diatribe of the Rabble Rouser” – Ferdinand Ekeoma

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, was in Enugu to commission a project executed by His Excellency, Governor Peter Mba. Governor Mba deserves commendation for completing the project which many reliable sources have revealed was started and built up to 50% by two of his predecessors, former Governors Chimaraoke Nnamani and Sulivan Chime respectively.

Our friend and critic of Governor Alex Otti, Dominic Nmerengwa (Dom Nik) was so excited, and dedicated so much effort ridiculing the government of Abia State with all kinds of lies, but as usual, we weren’t bothered, because Abia under Governor Alex Otti is speedily becoming a model that does not require the endorsement of an intentional mischief maker to authenticate the truism of the strides made so far.

Dom Nik instantly began to insinuate that because Tinubu was in Enugu and not Abia to commission a project, every other project done by Governor Otti in Abia stood nonexistent.

He claimed that there would be nothing to commission, should Tinubu come to Abia. We have no problems with such comedy as long as it has the propensity to excite him and heal his 2023 post-election trauma, however, if Dom Nik was convinced of his facts and was ready to prove his claims, would he not have thrown the challenge or opened the debate in a responsible, civil and civilised manner? No, he didn’t do that. He started again with insults by calling those around Governor Otti “hypocrites who are paralysing and have zero insights and focus”.

This wasn’t just uncalled for, but grossly irresponsible, and further validates our stance that the guy in question is driven by malice and bitterness arising from the 2023 calamitous and Self-serving political decision he took.
You read his post and didn’t caution him to be civil, instead, you loved his insult as shown by Facebook, just the same way you “didn”t ” see the abuses, insults and blackmail of the other culprits, which also come in torrents.

In his infantile mind, because a project was commissioned in Enugu, the massive JAAC Office building that Governor Otti met in a state of abandonment, with the Contractor owed billions that had earlier been sighed off by the previous government, which Governor Otti now completed, equipped, and the contractor paid to the last Kobo, is useless because it was done by Governor Otti.
The Nnamdi Azikiwe Secretariat that was abandoned and left in a state of absolute dilapidation for years, while workers stayed under the trees and used bushes as their convenience, but was rebuilt and equipped by Governor Otti, no longer exists because it was done by Otti.

The Lokpanta that was reclaimed and rebuilt after years of being under the siege of criminal none-state actors who kidnapped and slaughtered our citizens, is inconsequential, because it was done by Otti?
The several public building projects that have been executed, equipped and furnished to serve our public and civil servants, do not matter because they bear the imprimatur of Alex Otti?

All the road projects and thousands of streetlights executed and installed by Alex Otti, that have given Abia the same beauty, ambiance and serenity that Enugu began to enjoy decades ago, no longer matter, because the achiever proved that, without the support of some neophyte featherweights who buried their consciences in the mud midway and went for their stomachs, God’s spoken words could come to accomplishment, as it did in 2023.

Couldn’t Governor Otti have called President Tinubu to come and hand over the cheque of the almost 18 billion naira meant to defray arrears of salaries owed workers in Abia, including those of ABSU, Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, ABSUTH, ACETA etc?

The same Character who boldly claimed that Port Harcourt Road wasn’t being built by Julius Berger, because, according to him, the colour of a Bulldozer was Yellow, is whom Dodoh Okafor should be reciting poetry for, when the character in question has consciously chosen to go puerile and perfidious?

After abusing those around Otti and calling them names, because he knew that his fake analogies on the subject matter and other subject matters aimed at deceiving the public and demarketing Otti, represent a facade of fury, you guys now turned around and expected the Alex Otti’s aide you are now trying to caution, to serve them roses. As who please?
Are your pieces of advice and words of caution supposed to be selective and dramatic?

While I do not hold brief for Ogbuefi Dodoh Okafor who is my friemd and a fellow appointee, one thing that is certain is that, he has the facts, has the information, the knowledge, the energy and the courage to take on anyone who may want to use him to play to the gallery. Above all, he has the character, and towers above many of his contemporaries, and thus would come out of whatever debate and media engagement that may ensue, unscathed.

If I may ask; have you not had reasons to criticise the government on several occasions? Who attacked you?

Like i have always held that, a government in power must at all times be ready to be assessed, criticised, put to trial, and even reasonably attacked, hower, if anyone chooses to abandon the democratically accepted rules of engagement and decides to apply the instrument of destructive falsehood or elects to resort to name-calling, like the same Dom Nik that is so embittered that Prof. Agbazuere said some positive words about the present Governor, is doing now, we would be left with the option of equal response.

We are brothers, and we are friends, but for the principles of camaraderie and brotherhood to be upheld while we advance our ideological differences, we must observe the reciprocity of respect.
