Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano has criticized comments by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami that a state of emergency may be declared in the state if necessary.
Speaking to the State House Correspondents after a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Obiano said he will personally call the Attorney General of the Federation to register a formal protest.
The Anambra Governor added that during his meeting, President Buhari was not aware of Malami’s pronouncement but only stressed the need for a peaceful and credible governorship election.
Malami had said the federal government is determined to ensure a hitch-free election in Anambra despite the wave of attacks and killings in the state.
Malami had threatened that the government may declare a state of emergency in Anambra to ensure that the November 6 governorship election in the state takes place.
The attorney-general of the federation (AGF) and minister of justice, made the disclosure on Wednesday after the federal executive council (FEC) meeting at the presidential villa, Abuja.
