Governor Alex Otti has flagged off the 11.5 kilometers Nunya-Eluama-Isuikwuato Road in isuikwuato local government area of Abia State.
The Road construction project is awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
The flag was witnessed by top dignitaries of the community on Tuesday.
Speaking during the flag off, Governor Otti extracted commitment from the CCECC team leader that the project will be concluded within 12 calendar month and must be concluded based on all specification stated in the contract paper and the contractor affirmed it.
Governor Otti emphasized that his administration is very strategic in road construction as Nunya-Eluama- Isuikwuato road project will help to boost economic activities in the area especially the transportation of farm produce by commuters to the city centers.
In his words: “With this road, people may decide to live here, go to work from here and investors may also decide to site their industries here. We are making sure there is even development in Abia State”
In the contribution of the former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika Retired, he eulogized Governor Otti for the laudable project. He posited that he is more excited because of the consistency on specifications of the project reeled out by both the Commissioner of Works and the contractor.
In his words: “As an engineer myself, I am happy with the consistency of the project specification reeled out by both the Commissioner of Works and the CCECC. Anytime I am home, I will drive in to join you in inspecting the road and make sure that the construction company maintains the specification agreed.”
Also speaking the Honorable Member Representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly Honorable Lucky Udoka Johnson, appreciated the governor for the project and assured the governor of every support he needs legislative wise.
“This is the time governance; I will give the governor every support he needs to achieve the new Abia which all of us need” Hon. Johnson said.
The Mayor of Isuikwuato Local Government Area Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Chiwendu Onyike, thanked the governor for the project and equally assured him of every support he needs and also the contractors.
