Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has assured that his administration is open for genuine enquirer of information as regards the cost and length of any road or other infrastructural projects in the state.
The governor gave the assurance during the monthly media parley held at the banquet hall, government house in the state Capital.
Governor Otti however frowned against those peddling fake rumours and spined up figures for propaganda and political gains while also stating that only genuine people who want information can get it,
In his words: “Only genuine people who want information will get information, but for miscreants who are jobless and looking for what to say, we are not going to be indulging them”.
Governor Otti thus tasked journalists to make enquiry of his administration project spending, specifications and budget as he affirms that no rule prohibits journalists from doing so.
“There’s no rule stopping anybody from knowing how much government spends on roads, but a lot of time when all those questions are coming, they are coming from people who are looking for struts to hang on to, and we simply ignore them, but if a genuine Abian who lives in Abia, if you want to get any information, you can get it. But if it is for propaganda, even when we don’t say anything, they go out there in the media space… When we advertise them we state the length of the road, so for genuine people who want information, they can always get. Governor Otti said.
On the question asked about the outcome of the judicial panel of enquiry set up by the Abia state government to recover looted government property, Governor Otti said the panel has submitted its report and the next stage is of the white paper which automatically makes it a law.
In his words: “The judiciary panel of enquiry submitted its report a few weeks ago, it is now at the stage of white paper. It is just like how the Abia State Judicial Panel submitted its reports, and eventually a white paper was issued… Once a white paper is issued, it becomes law.”
