According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a MAYOR is a person who is elected or chosen to lead the group who governs a town or city.
Another broader definition reads ” A Mayor is a leader of the municipal corporation, which is the local governing body. In current use, the mayor is the head of a local government. As a result, the mayor is virtually always the chairman of the municipal council and the executive committee of the council”.

It’s not a crime to be ignorant of a subject matter, because no one is a bank of knowledge, however, it’s wrong to be intentionally ignorant even when the frontiers for knowledge acquisition are open and beckoning on you to come forth and seek knowledge.
