Etigwe Uwa, a senior advocate of Nigeria, SAN, has decleared interest to run for the gubernatorial seat of Abia state under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

Etigwe made his decleration in Umuahia on Sunday.

The Abia North aspirant who hails from Arochukwu local government area of Abia State revealed that he left the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA to pursue his quest.

Etigwe is presently a managing partner at StreamSowers & Kohn, a leading law firm in Nigeria. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1990 and was conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2010. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institue of Arbitrators, UK and a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.

During his briefing, he noted the slow pace of development in Abia State and very passionate to make a desired change, while faulting the idea of anointing a candidate as a successor.

In his words: “Ndi Igbo has allowed the anointing by incubent governor’s, ultimately power belongs to the people.

“we must take back Abia, we should not allow people to determine who we are.” Etigwe said.

He also spoke about how he can make effect change in leadership and governance of Abia by providing quality education, good roads, employment, quality health care, etc.

“Today is a day we can Effective primary health care system and centres. A day we can make effectiveness in our education system in terms of educational facility on ground. We should be able to dream of an Abia where we can have an Abia that can harness our natural resources. We can dream of Abia that can be a manufacturing hub. We can dream of Abia with viable economy.We can have an Abia that is wealth creating rather than going to FAC. Etigwe said.

While commenting on the development plan of Aba, the commercial hub of the state, Etigwe referred Abia to “a sleeping giant”.

“Aba is capable of producing clothes and foot wears that can be supplied to the world in general.”

Etigwe emphasized that all that is required in governance is get the right team work and development plan to get it right.

Speaking about power generation in Aba and the state, Etigwe said “I believes in the eunterprenueral power of the state which I will speed up through the geometric power plant in Aba.

He vowed to make a desired change if given the ticket by APGA and request the collective contribution of all Abians.
