The Deputy Governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu is on the verge of receiving impeachment notice from the state House of Assembly.
CANDIDREPORTERS.COM gathered on Wednesday that the Edo state House of Assembly stated in the impeachment notice that the deputy governor was given seven days to respond to the impeachment notice.
The impeachment notice was announced by the Majority Leader, Charity Aiguobarueghian.
CANDIDREPORTERS.COM also learnt that the petition dated March 5 against Philip Shaibu was signed by 21 of the 24 members of the legislature and that the petition was based on perjury and the revelation of government’s secrets.
Aiguobarueghian noted that the number of members who signed the petition was higher than the two-thirds constitutional requirement.
The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly acknowledged receipt of the petition as the clerk, Mr Yahaya Omogbai, was directed to serve the impeachment notice on the deputy governor.
