CHILDREN: The True Treasure Of Our Nation- Frank Chinasa

Today, the air is filled with joy, hope, and the radiant voices of our future — our children. As the world commemorates the 2025 International Children’s Day, I, proudly join every father, mother, teacher, guardian, and leader in Abia State and across Nigeria in celebrating the heartbeat of our nation — our children— our most sacred treasure and the living promise of a brighter tomorrow.

The theme of this year’s celebration, “Tapping the Untapped Natural Treasure,” is more than timely — it is a clarion call to awaken the world to the power and potential locked inside every Nigerian child. Our children are not just passive observers in society; they are active contributors, bursting with imagination, innovation, and resilience. They are not the future alone — they are the vibrant pulse of the now.

In Abia State, we are blessed to witness a government that not only understands this truth but is boldly acting on it. Under the transformative leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, Abia State, is blazing a new trail in child welfare and education. The laudable free education policy and the enforcement of compulsory schooling for every child of school age are not just policies on paper — they are real, life-changing interventions already lifting children off the streets and planting their feet firmly on the path of knowledge and greatness.

We see new hope in the eyes of children once denied an education. We see courage in the classrooms where young minds are now free to dream without the burden of school fees. We see commitment in every policy that says: “No child in Abia must be left behind.” This is leadership. This is vision. This is legacy.

Yet, we must not rest.

Even as we applaud these strides, we must recognize that the work of raising, protecting, and empowering our children is not for government alone. It is a collective mission. I call on leaders at every level — traditional, religious, political —and civil society organizations, NGOs, the private sector, and community groups to rise in collaboration. Together, let us secure every child’s right to education, healthcare, protection, and dignity.

Let us build more than classrooms – let us build minds. Let us fund more than policies — let us fuel purpose. Let us not only speak of children’s rights, let us safeguard them with our actions.

To our dear children, hear this loud and clear: You are seen. You are loved. You are celebrated. You are not just a part of our story – you are the reason we write it. Dream without limits, grow without fear, and shine without apology.

Happy Children’s Day, Abia!
Happy Children’s Day, Nigeria!

May your brilliance never be dimmed, and may our nation rise to match the greatness you were born to bring.

Signed,
Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa, M.B.A
Abia State Liaison Officer, National Assembly
