Eleven of the 61 persons abducted during an attack on a train in Kaduna, have been freed.

Recall that Candidreporters.com earlier reported that on March 28, a train on its way from Abuja was attacked by bandits in Kaduna.

Several persons were killed, dozens injured, while others were abducted.

Among those who regained their freedom are six females and five males who have now been flown to the nation’s capital, Abuja.

Tukur Mamu, media consultant to Ahmad Gumi, popular Islamic cleric, confirmed the release of the 11 passengers in a telephone interview.

He further explained that the 11 victims were freed on health grounds in order to enable them undergo urgent medical treatment.

According to Mamu, their names are Jessy John, Amina Ba’aba Mohammed (Gamba), Rashida Yusuf Busari and  Hannah Ajewole. Others include  Najib Mohammed Daiharu,  Gaius Gambo , Hassan Aliyu, Peace A. Boy and Danjuma Sa’idu.

Mamu also revealed that the release of the victims was coordinated by the federal government of Nigeria.
