The Chairman of Abia chapter of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Hon. Nelcinn Uluocha
has debunked the statement alleging that he has been arrested by a former party member for fraudulent activities.
According to fillers reaching Candidreporters.com, a former member of YPP Mr Onyekwere Akym Uchechukwu was said to have contributed a lot financially to the Abia YPP hoping to become the gubernatorial candidate of the party but alleged to be schemed out as event unfolded.
Reacting to the alleged fraudulent act, Hon. Nelcinn said the story is cooked up by mischief makers to discredit himself and the YPP.
Pressing further if such encounter ever transpired, Hon. Nelcinn said he can only recall when Onyekwere Akym Uchechukwu picked interest in becoming the party’s flag bearer for the gubernatorial race of Abia state.
Hon. Nelcinn narrated that Mr Onyekwere bought the YPP gubernatorial form to contest but latter Withdrew from the race with a letter of notice of withdraw possiblity due to the influx of new members who amongst them also declared interest to join the gubernatorial primaries of the party after obtaining the form and fulfilling all requirements of the party.
In his words “he joined our party and he gave money to purchase his expression of interest form which we did and gave him. When other people joined the party he was shy of going for the primaries. He also knew from the stakeholders meeting that the party is adopting option A4 for the party’s primary election. He then asked if the new members won’t hijack the party and I told him that everyone has the liberty to join the party because the door is wide open.
“Before the primary election, the rumour started going round that I, as the chairman defrauded Mr Onyekwere. I Immediately called for a meeting with stakeholders in the 17 local government areas of the state. He was invited by the zonal chairman, he said he was coming, we waited for three hours and called him again but he replied that he was having prayers and he can’t attend the meeting but demanded it should be scheduled for the following day. The next day, the national working committee invited him but he didn’t attend the meeting.”
Exonerating himself further, Hon. Nelcinn said Mr Onyekwere in the letter sent to the party, he stated why he pulled out from the gubernatorial primary election.
“He latter came with thugs to attack me screaming I should give him his money. Tell me where it is done that after buying form to contest election which you pulled out with your resignation letter and still demand refund for money paid to purchase the form.” Hon. Nelcinn said.
Hon. Nelcinn also added that the police was invited into the matter and it has been addressed accordingly.
The Abia YPP chairman urged all party members and faithfuls to debunk such malicious statement from mischief makers. He also added that the matter been trashed because the claims of Onyekwere Akym Uchechukwu is baseless and only mischief makers want to make a mole out of it to malign his person.
