The supreme court has upheld the election victory of governor Alex Otti of Abia state.

The judgement was given on Friday by a five-member panel of justices led by Uwani Abb-Aji.

The appeal filed by PDP’s candidate, Okey Ahiwe and Ikechi Emenike of the APC was dismissed for lack of merit.

Otti is a member of the Labour Party.

After the March 18, 2023 election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Otti as the winner of the election after polling 175,466 votes to defeat his closest rival, Okey Ahiwe of the PDP.

Okey had 88,529 votes,
