The All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has announced Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan as the party’s consensus candidate.
This is coming as the party begins its presidential primary election in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
Adamu was said to have made the announcement at the meeting of the National Working Committee on Monday.
Meanwhile thirteen governors of APC from the north on Monday insisted that the presidential ticket of the party must go to the south.
The governors spoke with pressmen after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the state house, Abuja.
Simon Lalong, Plateau state governor and chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, also said the president has no anointed presidential candidate.
Lalong said the president directed the governors to meet with the national working committee (NWC) of the party to resolve the issue of a consensus candidate.
