The Ukwa La Ngwa Council of Elders has reaffirmed its support for the creation of Aba State, championed by some Abia representatives in the National Assembly.

The Elders who made the position known after a virtual meeting on Sunday, June 22, 2025 and presided over by their Leader, Dr Max Nduaguibe, also commended efforts by Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti to secure Ukwa La Ngwa Land and indeed the entire Abia State.

The Council in a statement co-signed by Admin Secretary, Dr Nwaoha Eugene Uzo suggested that the process of recruitment of persons into the new homeland security agency should be given wider publicity and ensure proper inclusiveness.

The council also deliberated on the issue of the flood waters coming up around Urata, Obuda, Eziukwu, Okpojiaku, Aba Ukwu, and other adjoining villages/towns and neighborhoods, following the construction of Port Harcourt Road.

It mandated people living in the affected communities to bring up pictures and videos of the ravaging waters, which will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities to rescue those areas from being completely submerged during the coming rains.
