WHO IS CHIEF JUDE OKECHUKWU UDEACHARA?
Chief Jude Okechukwu Udeachara is a native of Amokwe-Achara, Uturu in Isuikwuato LGA of Abia State. He was born in 1964 in Otukpo, Benue State, to late Mr. and Mrs. Adolphus and Mary Udeachara. He is the first of seven surviving children.
A devout Catholic baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Otukpo and confirmed at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Uturu in 1973, Chief Udeachara is known for his deep faith and daily devotion.
EDUCATION
He attended Achara Central Primary School, Uturu and Immaculate Conception Seminary, Ahiaeke, Umuahia for his secondary education. He obtained a B.Sc from Anambra State University of Technology, Awka (now ESUT) in 1987 and an M.Sc in Applied Microbiology from University of Lagos, Akoka in 1990. While at Akoka, he combined studies with trading and supplying to multinationals like Unilever, Nigerian Breweries and PZ Cussons.
He is happily married with six children — five graduates and one in the final year of study in the University.
CAREER AND TRACK RECORD
- Industrial Microbiology & Public Safety: During his NYSC (1988) at Sona Dairies Ltd, Ota and Unilever Nigeria, Agbara, his report as factory microbiologist on the use of expired KLIN milk for production led to the closure of Sona Dairies by health authorities.
- Industrial Sourcing & Supply: After NYSC, he built a business sourcing raw materials, chemicals and machinery for Unilever, Nigerian Breweries, PZ Cussons, NASCO and others, locally and internationally.
- Housing: Through his subsidiary, Red Roses Ltd, his company delivered about 100 housing units for PZ Cussons Aba workers’ cooperative estate in Aba.
- Trade & Markets in Aba: As Special Adviser on Trade and Investment to Gov Okezie Ikpeazu, he helped Aba traders own their shops through three markets: Ekumi Market (behind A-Line, Ariaria for drug sellers), St. Michael GSM and Accessories Market, George’s (now housing displaced Ekeoha traders) and Azikiwe Tyre and Heavy-Duty Spare Parts Market, Alaoji.
- Agriculture: He facilitated land acquisition for Von Farms and Foods Ltd in Ngodo, Ugwuogu, Umuanyi and Arommiri Ukwu autonomous communities in Uturu. Today about 1,000 hectares of cassava have been cultivated, creating jobs, displacing criminal hideouts in fallow forests and attracting CBN and other intervention agencies.
- Major Investment Attraction: He was the local broker who facilitated the joint venture between PZ Cussons Plc and Singapore’s Wilmar International that birthed PZ Wilmar — producers of Kings Vegetable Oil, Mamador and bakery fats — with 50,000 hectares of palm plantation in Cross River to feed its Ikorodu plant. The venture ended smuggling of Kings Oil and made Nigeria an exporter. Many Abians gained jobs, logistics and distributorship opportunities.
- Security: Through Blue Tiger Security Ltd, he provided security for Veritas University, Obehe (Ukwa West) for five years before its relocation to Abuja, and for Gregory University, Uturu at inception.
