The Nigeria Labour Congress in Rivers State has threatened to withdraw services if any attempt is made to withhold the state’s monthly allocation.

Rivers State NLC Chairman, Alex Agwanwor, made this known to journalists in Port Harcourt following a meeting of the NLC State Executive Council.

Mr. Agwanwor said the council is dissatisfied with the judiciary’s handling of the political crisis in Rivers State. He said the NLC has resolved to advise the judiciary to reconsider its decision or face action from the union.

BACKGROUND

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was ordered by a federal high court sitting in Abuja not to further release financial allocations to the Rivers state government.

The court held that monies from the federation account should not be released to the state pending the passage of a lawful appropriation act by a validly constituted house of assembly.
