OPINION: Governor Otti Doesn’t Play in Your Clannish League, Stop Wasting Your Time

Let me restate that, shoe get size. Dr. Alex Otti is a big player with urbane view and altruistic philosophy of modern governance. He believes that once governance is holistic and driven with unquenchable altruism, everyone and every clan would benefit.

If he shared the same clannish and medieval philosophy of “umunnem system of democracy”, he would have upheld the clan-induced fraud that was going on in ABSU before he assumed office. He would have drawn up a list of his supporters and loyalists and their family members and offered them admissions or jobs, even without the existence of job opportunities like his predecessors did, at the expense of other citizens.

Reminding me that a particular Governor developed his community and therefore Governor Otti should toe the same path and focus on his community, is an insult that seeks to reduce the Governor to the level of his traducers.

Otti is not a village head, he is a Governor of a state. He is not just a governor, but one that was unanimously voted by Abians from all parts of the State. He is loved and cherished across the lenght and breadth of Abia State.

While not seeking to dignify all these dishonest propagandists who have audaciously chosen to sit the truth on its head in order to score cheap political points, especially concerning Isialangwa South, which by the way is not more important than any other LGA, these are some of the projects that the government has either completed or presently doing in the LGA. There are some projects not captured here. This is just one LGA within three years.

1. 8.3km Isi Eketa – Obikabia Road* – traverses Isialangwa South and Isialangwa North.
2. Eketa-Ovungwu-Agbaragwu Road. There are several other road projects that are ongoing.

3.. New Court Complex at Umuene, Isialangwa South. Well Digitised and Solarised for effective service delivery.

4. Umuihe-Cottage Hospital rebuilt, functionalised and commissioned.(It’s a secondary level Hospital).
5. Metering is ongoing’ in different parts of Isialangwa South and North. This is verifiable.
6. Construction of 33KV Overhead High Tension Power Line. 8KM high Tension 33KV overhead Transformer line from Ndiolumbe to Umunkpeyi Junction Isiala Ngwa South LGA Abia State – Affected communities are 7 in Nvosi.

7.Supply and installation of 500KVA /33 transformer including rehabilitation of low tension power line at Okpuala Ekele Nvosi.

8. EXTENSION OF ELECTRICITY to ENVIRONS AT EGBELU MBUTU plus installation of 500KV 33KV Transformers.

The government Worked with Aba Power to Run a dedicated line from Owerrinta to Omoba injection substation and another leg to Nvosi.

9. 1395 solar street lights have been installed across communities in Isiala Ngwa south and North.
   7. 25 Kilowatts Solar Power + 45 KWH battery storage system installed at Umuihe Cottage Hospital – Isiala Ngwa South.
10. Installation of 60Kw Solar Power Solution at Mbato Secondary School – Nvosi.
11. REVAMPING THE AMAIYI WATER SCHEME & UMUABALI TANK – NVOSI on going.
12. Construction of 8km 33kv overhead line from Umunevo Nvosi to Nsulu – Isiala Ngwa North – Ongoing.
13. In the same Isialangwa South, the government has rebuilt, equipped and functionalised 9 Primary Health Centres. They include:

Umuekene
Osokwa
Obintu-Mbutu
Owerrinta
Alaukwu
Agbaragwu
Ikem Nvosi
Umuawa
Umuokoroukwu.

My LGA Bende has 13 Wards, but has seen only 8 Health Centres functionalised. Arochukwu LGA has 11 Wards, but has also seen 8 Health Centres functionalised. Isialangwa South has 10 Wards but has seen 9 Health Centres functionalised.

The solarisation that was just started by the state government, commenced first with Isialangwa South. Yet, just the way we respected ourselves throughout those 8years of complete abandonment by the previous government, we have continued to respect ourselves by criticising in a responsible manner and making demands in the most civilised manner. We are not behaving like a headless mob.
