The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has threatened service withdrawal as it condemned the latest military invasion of the Eko Disco facility at the Badagry Injection Substation, Lagos, by “overzealous Military Personnel” over the claims of poor electric supply.
The NUEE gave the public notice and condemnation of the military invasion via press statement on Monday.
NUEE revealed that the military tortured some staff and abducted two “staff members and took them to their Barracks at the Nigerian Army, 15th Field Engineers Regiment, Topo Town, Badagry, Lagos”.
NUEE called on the relevant military authorities to call to order those who executed the facility invasion and warned that the workers will withdraw their services if it happens again for workers safety.

ANOTHER MILITARY INVASION OF EKO DISCO AND TORTURE OF OUR STAFF ON THE 14TH OF MARCH 2025
The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) condemns totally the invasion of the Eko Disco facility at the Badagry Injection Substation by overzealous Military Personnel. While we are yet to recover from the brutalization of Ikeja Electric staff and vandalization of the Head Office by the Nigerian Air force, the Nigerian Army have invaded the Eko Disco Badagry Injection Substation, Badagry, Lagos at 1.00am on the 14th of March 2025.
They abducted two members of our staff and took them to their Barracks at the Nigerian Army, 15th Field Engineers Regiment, Topo Town, Badagry, Lagos. The abducted employees are the DSO, and a Proton Security Officer on duty.
Their claim was poor electricity supply to their Barracks in the last one week. Whereas, Eko Electricity Management had earlier given public notice to all customers and proper information about the on-going TCN Upgrade in Agbara was duly communicated to their commanding officer, Lt Col S. Lawan. Efforts were made to restore power to the barracks but the feeder went off due to excess load.
The abducted employees were released at 4 am after torturing and brutalizing them as if they were common criminals.
We reject vehemently this continuous threat to the lives of Electricity Workers across the Country and provocation by customers, especially the Military.
The Management of various Discos must ensure that Workers are protected and secured while on duty.
We hereby demand that the relevant authorities should call to order all those who are responsible for this callous, unprofessional, and atrocious behaviour, otherwise we will order our staff to withdraw their services in order to stay safe.
“To be forewarned is to be forearmed”
Dominic Igwebike
Ag. General Secretary
