Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa, Chief Liaison Officer of Abia State, has commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s transformative leadership, saying it has triggered a mass defection of opposition party members to the Labour Party and the Abia Arise Movement.
Hon Chinasa stated this while joining other party Chieftains from Bende to receive decampees from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party. It was a massive political shift as the entire Itumbauzo Ward of Bende Local Government Area witnessed a historic defection leading to the official collapse of the entire structure of the Peoples Democratic Party into the Labour Party and the Abia Arise Movement.
According to Hon. Chinasa, “The transformation sweeping through Abia under Governor Otti’s leadership has resonated powerfully, signaling a new dawn in the political landscape of Bende.”
The event, held at the Ndiwo Primary School Field, attracted top political hierarchy and Labour Party leadership, including the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Barr. Chijioke Nwankwo; Mayor of Bende LGA, Dcn. Uwabunkonye Bassey; and Deputy Mayor, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Anya.
Hundreds of PDP members, led by Hon. Chibuzo Ndom, a former Commissioner for Boundary Matters, defected to the Labour Party, citing Governor Otti’s transformational governance, transparency, and people-centered policies as the driving force behind their decision.
“The positive impact of good governance is evident in Itumbauzo for the first time in decades. We can no longer pretend not to see the difference Dr. Otti has made in Abia State,” Hon. Ndom said.
Hon. Chinasa, along with other dignitaries, praised Governor Otti’s visionary leadership and the massive infrastructural turnaround across Abia, assuring the new entrants of continued government presence in the ward.
The event concluded with over 1,000 former PDP members publicly declaring support for the Labour Party, the Abia Arise Movement, and Governor Otti’s administration, marking a significant milestone in the growth of the Abia Arise Movement across Bende and beyond.
