Amid the harsh economic situation in the country, Hon. Chukwudi Apugo, former member representing Umuahia East in the Abia State House of Assembly, has empowered 17 youths in his community with 300,000 naira each to invest in their businesses.

The kind gesture was done as part of the activities lined up ahead of his 50th birthday coming up on Friday, May 16, 2025,

While rolling out the gesture on Thursday in his community Umuakaka Nkata Ibeku in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State , Hon. Apugo said the kind gesture was done out of good intention and not related to politics.
In his words: “This is not politics. This is personal, these are young people who already have a trade, who have learned skills and just need support to go higher. That’s what I am doing today.”

As a former lawmaker, he said no one needs to be in office to do good.”
He advised the beneficiaries to always exercise patience in all they do as well as be committed with their businesses.
He also advised them to stay away from gambling and use of hard drugs if they want to be successful in life.
“If you have nothing doing, this is your time to wake up. Tomorrow, it could be your turn to receive this kind of help, if you have something in your hands,” Apugo advised.
While addressing them on the role they should play in peace building in the community, Hon. Apugo encouraged them to settle their grievances and differences amicably and avoid legal battles in court.
He advised the other youths who wished the event to learn skills that will enablebenefit from such empowerment in the future.
Hon. Apugo revealed that he learnt the kind gesture from his father, Benjamin Benedict Apugo, a popular politician and businesman. He thanked his father for instilling the act of benevolence in him.
Ugochukwu Amos one of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of others thanked Hon. Apugo for the kind gesture and assured him of judicious of the money. He prayed for more blessings for him to continue his good works.
