The former Minority leader Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu has decried the activities of the Abia State House of Assembly for failing to rise up to their responsibility to check the activities of Governor Otti and the executive arm.

Chukwu who was reacting to the statement credited to the speaker of the Abia state house of assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa where he claims that Governor Otti has done well, said it is regrettable that an independent arm of government could be in bed with the executive to deceive Abians.

Chukwu, who represented Bende North in the 7th Abia state house of assembly, described the current house as the most docile without vision and leadership a situation he said has set the state many steps backward.

” it is unfortunate that the speaker of the Abia state house assembly who could not muster courage to challenge some of the activities of the executive had the temerity to say the Deputy speaker is no match to the Governor, this 8th Abia state house of assembly is the most docile and I’m really ashamed of the speaker who is trading his lawfully assigned role for political gains” Chukwu posited

The former lawmaker, who is currently a member of the North West Development Commission representing south east, explained that the speaker and the lawmakers are taking advantage of the gullibility of Abians to support the mass looting going in the state and reminded him that posterity would not be kind to him.

According to Chukwu” Abia state house of assembly used to be a fire brand which had always checked the activities of the executive with its through scrutiny of government policies and activities, but this present House under Emeruwa has dropped the ball, making the mess of all the achievements of the House previously”.

It could be recalled that the speaker Abia state house of assembly Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa during a press conference at the assembly complex, had taken a swipe at the Deputy speaker House of representatives Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, saying Kalu is no match to Governor Otti following the governor’s giant strides in development within the state especially in his constituency in Aba.
