In celebration of the 2025 World Book and Copyright Day, Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa has called for increased support for authors and a renewed commitment to promoting reading among students.

The global event, celebrated annually on April 23 and initiated by UNESCO, honors the power of books to educate, connect cultures, and preserve history. This year’s theme, “Read Your Way,” emphasizes the transformative impact of reading on personal and communal growth.

Hon. Chinasa highlighted the vital role books play in shaping knowledge, preserving culture, and expanding imagination. “Books are a window to the world—each page introduces us to new ideas, people, and possibilities,” he stated.

He urged the government and relevant agencies to support authors, improve book accessibility in schools, and create policies that encourage a thriving reading culture.

“World Book Day is not just a celebration,” he said, “it’s a reminder of the need to make books and knowledge available to all.”

Hon. Chinasa’s message reinforces the importance of reading as a lifelong tool for empowerment, education, and global understanding.
