Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in 2023, has officially defected to the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress, ADC. The Nigerian Government has instituted new money laundering charges against former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abubakar Abdulaziz Malami, over alleged financial transactions exceeding N1 billion. The Federal Inland Revenue Service has announced that the National Identification Number issued by the National Identity Management Commission has automatically become the Tax Identification Number for individual Nigerians. The clarification was made in a public awareness campaign on the new tax laws shared by the Service on X on Monday. Two Senators from Rivers State, loyal to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
