Abia State National Assembly Liaison Officer, Chief Iheanyi Frank Chinasa, is urging Abia students to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) policy as the agency begins its next award cycle for the 2024/2025 academic session. Speaking during an interactive session with youths, Chief Chinasa revealed that NELFUND has disbursed ₦22 billion in loans to 215,514 students and ₦12 billion in upkeep support to 169,144 students since its inception in 2023. A 26 year-old man, James Austin Nwubani is on the run after reportedly killing his elder sister and her twin children in Umahia, Abia state. The ugly incident happened in the wee night hours of Tuesday at Isiama Afara Ukwu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State. Nigeria’s inflation rate has dropped significantly from 34.8 in December to 24.48% in January 2025, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The CPI report for January published on Tuesday, NBS said the rate represents an increase of 18.12 percent compared to the 29.9 percent recorded in January 2024. The Department of State Services (DSS) has clarified its involvement in the security takeover of the Lagos State House of Assembly, stating that its presence was requested by the Assembly itself.
