The Federal Capital Territory High Court, on Tuesday, remanded the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, in Kuje Correctional Centre, pending hearing of his bail application. Maryann Anenih, the trial judge, adjourned the N110 billion alleged money laundering case to January 29 and 30; and February 25 and 27. Earlier, the trial judge declined Bello’s bail request on the basis that the application was filed prematurely. Anenih averred that the bail application was filed before the ex-governor was taken into custody. An Ekiti State magistrate court has granted human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi N50 million bail in a defamation case legal expert Afe Babalola filed against him. Rights activist and publisher for Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, revealed this on his X handle today. Six hundred and one (601) account holders are been trailed by Nigerian Police for arrest over a technical glitch that cost fintech company Flutterwave N21.2 billion ($21.2 million) in erroneous transactions last year. Over 9,663 unauthorised transactions were carried by point-of-sale merchants amounting to billions of naira after Flutterwave suffered a glitch, which “allowed agents to conduct transactions in excess of their available balance” between October 12 and 13, 2023. Magistrates in Cross River embarked has embarked on indefinite strike over alleged poor welfare and other conditions of service. This is contained in a statement made public on Monday jointly signed by Godwin Onah, Cross River chairman of the Magistrates Association of Nigeria (MAN) and his secretary, Solomon Abuo, on Sunday.
