Recall that Onnoghen was suspended from office in 2019 and convicted for alleged false declaration of assets. The Zenith Labour Party, ZLP has won 15 out of the 17 Local Government Areas in the November 2, 2024 local government election in the state. The Young Progressives Party, YPP won two LGAs – Ugwunagbo and Osisioma Ngwa. The Nigeria Labour Congress in Rivers State has threatened to withdraw services if any attempt is made to withhold the state’s monthly allocation. Rivers State NLC Chairman, Alex Agwanwor, made this known to journalists in Port Harcourt following a meeting of the NLC State Executive Council.
