Abia Government Bans Tricycle Operations on Umuahia-Obowo, Other Roads

The Abia State government, through the Ministry of Transport has announced the prohibition of tricycle operators from Plying Umuahia to Obowo, Owerri and Ohafia.

According to the statements from the ministry of transportation, signed by Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, Hon. Commissioner for Transportation, Abia State. The statement read that the decision was taken citing security concerns.

“This is to inform the general public, especially tricycle operators, that as part of State Government efforts to ensure sanity, order, and safety on our roads, the Abia State.

“Government hereby directs all Keke operators plying routes from Umuahia to Obowu, Owerri, Ohafia, and Arochukwu are strictly prohibited”.

Any tricycle operator found violating this directive will be arrested and the tricycle impounded. This announcement takes immediate effect.

The general public and all Keke operators are advised to comply accordingly”.
