Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has revealed that in almost three years of his administration, 414 roads measuring 864.12km have been completed as other 82 roads which measure about 212km are under construction in various locations of the state.
Governor Otti gave the score card during his introductory speech of the monthly media parley with journalists, held on Friday at the remoulded Micheal Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, Abia State.
While relating the gaint infracstruture strides of his administration, he added that the construction of the roads encompasses street lights and good drainage systems in a bid to improve business efficiency and transportation cost as well as to accelerate trade and commerce in the state.
In fact checking the governors claims, CANDID REPORTERS learnt that roads reconstructed in the state by the administration of Governor Otti are usually completed with powered solar Street lights and drainage systems which also serves as walk way for pedestrians as well as installed rails to shield people from traffic dangers in areas like bank road and cooperative at isi-gate, Umuahia, and other parts of the state.


The governor added that his administration has also put in place a maintenance structure that will oversee the maintenance of the constructed roads through “direct labour agency and zero pothole policy”. He also positioned that the intervention serves as opportunity for those serving in the construction industry in the state to widen their capacity and enrich their skills as it has also helped in tackling unemployment in the state.
