Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has debunked the allegation on Governor Otti’s moves to join the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and advised whipping up the polity with political sentiments to market Former Governor Ikpeazu.
The former commissioner for Trade and Investment in Abia State, Chief John Okiyi Kalu popularly known as JOK had on Wednesday during a live political program on Flo-Fm 94.9, Umuahia, hinted that Governor Alex Otti had secrete meeting with Senator Adolphus Wabara in a move to join the PDP.
In a swift response on Thursday, Ekeoma in live political program on Flo fm 94.9 said the government of Alex Otti is busy dealing with liabilities created by Ikpeazu’s administration instead of defection rumours.
Ekeoma also clarified that Governor Otti is not interested in political cross-carpeting at the moment or decamping as he remains a member of the Labour Party.
In his own words: “The governor is not talking about cross-carpeting at this point in time or decamping, he remains a member of the Labour Party. Like I said, we have issues and they are subject to litigation presently at the Supreme Court. So the issue of joining PDP, there’s nothing like that.
“Let me say this, party is a platform, the PDP in Abia State as being constituted to a great extent. Of course we definitely have some honourable persons there and of course we also have some dishonorable persons there.
“If there’s any faction led by John Okiyi Kalu and others, you should know that it is a dishonorable faction and we will not want to have anything to…
‘so we are not interested in joining PDP.
“But if tomorrow, this is politics and governance, if PDP is redeemed to the point that it becomes decent, for somebody to join, what is wrong with that? Tomorrow you say you have decent PDP with progressive minded people, for now there’s nothing like that, it is not crossing the mind of the governor at all because we won the election on a platform.
Ekeoma also said that governor Otti winning the election under the platform of the Labour Party is not by accident. Also adding that the governor won election while in All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He also reminded that 11 State House of Assembly seats were won under APGA.
“We won 11 House of Assembly seats, at least the ones declared, we’re not talking about the ones violently stolen in different parts of the state where they wrote fake results”. Ekeoma said.
Ekeoma also added that Hon. John Okiyi Kalu is not a threat to Governor Alex Otti’s ambition as it also seems to be a market strategy by throwing up former governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s name to create an impression that the government of Governor Alex Otti is attacking him.
He however hinted that the government of Governor Alex Otti accords the former governor some respect and he’s not a threat to governor Alex Otti’s ambition.
Ekeoma also advised the former commissioner to desist from whipping up sentiment in the polity as Governor Otti is more focused on governance and not interested in contesting for senatorial seat.
